School worries solved in Denmark

Worried About School Places? Why Free Learning in Denmark is Your Relaxed Alternative

Adrienne Siepert Adrienne Siepert

The dream of living in Denmark is within reach. The job offer is there, the house is found, the moving boxes are packed. But then comes the nagging question: "Will our children actually get a school place?"

We know this worry all too well. Many German-speaking families moving to Southern Denmark face exactly this problem. The German School in Sønderborg has waiting lists, Danish folkeskoler are sometimes full, or the language barrier seems too daunting. And suddenly the whole move is in jeopardy.

The Good News: There Is a Solution

With us you don't need to worry about school places. Our creative learning workshop in Lysabild on the island of Als welcomes children at any time — from pre-school through to Year 10. No waiting lists! No complicated registration procedures! No months of uncertainty!

What Makes Our Learning Workshop Special?

Individual learning: Every child is unique. The curriculum is discussed with parents and tailored to your child's needs, interests and learning pace. No rigid system — just flexible education that truly promotes your child.

Multilingualism welcome: Whether your child brings German or English skills — we accompany every learning journey. Our workshop is aimed at German-speaking families from around the world who are looking for an alternative educational path.

Why Denmark?

Denmark is regularly ranked among the world's happiest countries — and for good reason. Work-life balance here is not an empty phrase but lived reality. The nature is breathtaking, the air is clean and the sea is never far away.

Southern Denmark and the island of Als offer the best of both worlds: proximity to Germany (the border is just 45 minutes away by car) and the relaxed Danish way of life.

The Stress of Finding a School in Germany — Gone

Do you know the feeling? In Germany you have to plan months ahead to secure a school place. Then come the rejections, the waiting lists, the compromises. With us it's different. We believe education should not be limited by capacity constraints. That's why we have built our workshop to respond flexibly to new families.

Freilernen — What Does It Actually Mean?

Freilernen (also known as "Unschooling") is an educational philosophy that puts curiosity and self-initiative first. Instead of following a rigid curriculum, children learn what interests them — at their own pace. That does not mean children can simply do whatever they want. It means that learning starts from the child's natural interests.

In the workshop we combine this philosophy with structured guidance. Parents are involved, the curriculum is planned together, and we ensure all key competences are developed.
